Welcome 2012. It’s all change here at White Ochre Design. After working in the design industry for 8 years as a sole trader, White Ochre Design is now a Limited company. So exciting!

Brand new website with CMS for Lewesfit Personal Training and Nutrition. White Ochre worked very closely with Katie to create a website that showcases her bespoke training packages and encourages new clients to hire Lewesfit for personal or group training.

A little bit of French fashion, art and style

I recently worked on a project for a graphic designer, Wendy Barratt, who designed the logo, overall look and feel, layout and navigation and then hired me to build the website. The result is a beautiful and classy website for a fashion stylist who lives and works in Paris. It is a portfolio site that showcases her work through slideshows, and includes a video. The run up to Christmas is always very busy! Here at White Ochre HQ, we are trying to get projects finished to tight deadlines and prepare for a few days off during the holidays.

Dawn Gracie and Teenie Tigers

Dawn Gracie recently launched her sales coaching and training business and White Ochre Design worked closely with Dawn to acheive a website she is proud of. dawngracie.com is designed and built on wordpress platform and includes a blog and social media integration. White ochre used Dawn’s logo (designed by M.Neely Art Direction+Design) and created a bespoke design to showcase her business services. White Ochre designed a logo and flyers for Teenie Tigers pre-school gymnasticcs. This was a fun project that involved lots of drawing; logo created in illustrator, flyers created in InDesign.

We are very busy here at White Ochre HQ and trying to get ready for Christmas as well – this is no small feat in a household full of youngsters (and oldies) excited about the holidays.

Goodbye Better Days Out

After many years of running a very useful and popular website (I created Better Days Out from scratch in 2003), I will be closing down Better Days Out www.betterdaysout.co.uk in January 2012. The time has come to move on, to focus on my core business, White Ochre Design and my writing (now that I am a published author!).

I would love to keep Better Days Out website online and running but unfortunately I do not have the funds to keep it going nor do I have the time to keep it updated with current and fresh content. I am sad about this and feel very guilty – from the emails I’ve had and the stats, and also from the incoming links from sites like the BBC and Mumsnet, i know that thousands of people have found Better Days Out to be a useful and important resource for them. I hate that I have to close down this wonderful resource, but it is impossible for me to keep it going on my own anymore.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Better Days Out and helped me, over the years, to keep it online. Paul Emmerson – Management Lessons

There are some design jobs that are incredibly interesting and rewarding once they are completed. I recently worked on an educational workbook and have finally seen the end-product. Management Lessons by Paul Emmerson. It’s amazing seeing the printed version of what I’d been working so hard on -on screen only. My jobs were typsetting and graphic design.

Paul Emmerson.com has also had some new features added on and a bit of a re-design by White Ochre Design. The online shop and web build is by Pixel by Pixel web design. I love that Paul has found the best people for each specific job and I thoroughly enjoyed working on his design project.

Coming soon from Paul Emmerson…. another website for students called BEhereBEthere.com. There is no stopping us now!

October round-up

October is finally here! Weather-wise that is. I have dug out my slippers and winter coats for the kids. Today is a crisp, cool sunny day and it truly feels like autumn.

Speaking of autumn, take a look at these autumn reflections from The Difference. White Ochre Design works closely with life coach Heidi Walker of The Difference to ensure her logo and website design changes with the seasons. I had the greatest pleasure of attending the Adur and Worthing business awards ceremony at the beginning of October. Fab night, amazing businesses and business people and a wonderful meal out with Jennifer Trew of HolyCow! Thanks Jen for being my +1.

I have also been very proactive and hired Jennifer to sort out my Facebook pages for White Ochre Design and for Bringing Up Brits. She installed a welcome page and profile page for me and also added the blog and twitter feeds. Really very pleased with it all.

Oakwood Cupcakes and Holy Cow! Event Planning

Latest design work includes a logo design for a London based cupcake company. The brief was to create something that represented the company (cupcake!), and a logo that was classy and professional looking. White Ochre also designed a business card, comp slip and stickers for them to use on their cupcake boxes. Oakwood Cupcakes will be launching the business next Friday with a coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support. Or, if you are throwing a party or need some cupcakes for an event, call Deborah of Oakwood Cupcakes and put in your order.

Holy Cow! Event Planning www.holycoweventplanning.com has had a face-lift. Jen, of Holy Cow! wanted something fresh and eyecatching to accompany her logo and company colours. White Ochre came up with a motif that fits in with the look and feel of her Holy Cow! logo which is now carried throughout her branding. White Ochre also re-designed her current website on wordpress platform.

September is whizzing by and I haven’t really had a chance to catch my breathe what with the kids back in school full swing, clubs back in session, paperwork up the whazoo and my two year old starting pre-school. Lots of exciting things going on at White Ochre Design and Bringing Up Brits!

We kicked off September with the Mumpreneurs Networking Club GMND (Global Mumpreneurs Networking Day) at the Grand Hotel in Brighton. This fabulous networking event for mums in business and GLOBAL mums in business was hosted by nicky Chisholm and Sara Guiel, founders of MNC. Ready, Get set, GO

After a relaxing summer holiday spent in London, Nerja, Torrox and Worthing, September kicks off with a few new website launches, a new business partnership, a new baby (no, not mine!), and Global Mumpreneurs Networking Day with The Mumpreneurs Networking Club. It’s set to be a super busy September here at White Ochre Design. Make sure you get your design requests in now because October is filling up quickly!

Polka Dot HouseNew e-commerce website launched in July. Polka Dot House, the home of all things lovely. Some things old, some things new…. take a look www.polkadothouse.co.uk

There are some gorgeous things sold on this website made by incredibly creative people. White Ochre Design worked with Polka Dot House to create a shopping website that fits in with the look and feel of their products. You can purchase online, read and leave a review, find out about their artists and follow them on FB.

Home Design & Build

Home Design & Build is a new website launched in July for architects who specialise in the restoration of period and listed properties. There are some beautiful properties on this website so please take time to look through the galleries.

 

 

On September 13, The Mumpreneurs Networking Club will be gathering together and holding meetings under their umbrella all over the globe! The day will see events held in countries as far apart as Australia, China, Canada, France, Italy and the U.S. as well as the U.K under the Networking Club’s umbrella.

The Mumprenerus Networking Club based in the U.K. has a reputation for being a friendly, inclusive and dynamic Club and if you get a group of business friends together that day – they’ll even arrange to hook up and say hello to your group from their celebratory meeting in the U.K.! It’s going to be a lot of fun but Global Mumpreneurs Networking Day has a serious message too.  Mums all over the world are contributing to their family’s well being and financial security and make a huge difference to national economies.  In the developing world their contribution can literally be lifesaving.  The day will raise awareness of these issues at the same time as networking and connecting across the globe.
